Miss U

My cat, Felicia, died from cancer a few months ago. I would love to adopt a new cat, but my new landlord has a no pets policy. I was able to talk him into letting my daughter keep her pet rats since they are caged (some of the time anyway!) but he said absolutely no cats or dogs. This makes me sad.

Tribute to Felicia

One more tribute to my little Felicia.
My sweet cousin Dawn sent me the poem on the layout:

They will not go quietly,
the cats who’ve shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a meowing at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them . . . and always will.

Felicia: Mar 1999 ~ Oct 2009

I had to make the awful decision to put my cat, Felicia, to sleep earlier this week. She was full of cancer which started out in her mammary glands and quickly spread through her little body. She was my constant companion for over 10 years. I will miss her terribly.

Business of Life

All of the animals excepting man know that the principal business of life is to enjoy it.

Status in Heaven

The quotation is:
How we behave towards cats here below determines our status in heaven. ~ Robert A. Heinlien

Looking Down

I am loving my new computer. It's a million times faster than my old "Dell from Hell". Plus I upgraded to Photoshop CS4. So nice to have the right tools to work with. Now if only my brain could keep up! LOL
The quote on this layout is:
The reason cats climb is so that they can look down on almost every other animal... its also the reason they hate birds. ~ KC Buffington

What's for Lunch?

I received some sad news this week. My cat Felicia has cancer. The vet could not tell me how long she has to live. He said he does not believe she will have any pain until it reaches the end stages, so I am going to give her lots and lots of love and watch carefully to be sure she's not suffering. I really love this cat.

Miss Felicia

As I am typing this, dear Miss Felicia is making the rounds from my lap, over the keyboard, onto my desk and back to my lap again. Makes it hard to type. I'd shoo her away, but she's just too darn cute.

Life is Good

This photo of me was taken by my husband four or five years ago. It is still one of my (only) favorites. I wish I could remember what book I was reading! The caption says:

Puppy Love?

When we adopted Felicia from the Humane Society we were surprised to find out she was pregnant. She soon had four kittens. We found good homes for three of them, kept the last one and named her Junebug. Sadly, we had to have June put to sleep about a year and half ago. I still miss her a lot.

Wise Kitty?

I love this quote by Bette Midler:
Cats always seem so very wise, when staring with their half-closed eyes. Can they be thinking, "I'll be nice, and maybe she will feed me twice?"

For Tami

My dear friend Tami and I not only share the same neurological disorder (a very bad thing!) but a deep love for animals (a very good thing!) I have put together a little brag book featuring all of her beloved pets - past and present - for Valentine's Day.

The last two pages have photos of my cats, Felicia and Cocoa.
Most of the elements in these layouts came from a free colaboration kit called Forever Mine which can be found on The Blog Train Blog.

Solar Powered

An ode to Felica Kitty:
The sunlight makes a cozy spot next to our patio door.
It’s Felicia’s favorite place to relax and to restore.
Her nap is therapeutic (like the tuna she devoured)
She seems to need this daily bask...
Perhaps she’s solar powered?

Silly Kitty

My husband recently moved his office to a different room converted the old one into an art studio for me. (Isn't he awesome!) I wanted to be sure Felicia was comfortable in "our" new room so I bought her a bed for it. She really likes it, but I think she spends more time on top of the table, smack dab in the middle of my art projects than anywhere else!
The journaling reads:
Silly Kitty
Felicia enjoys playing in her new bed in my art studio. November 2008

Another tribute to her majesty.

Queen Felicia

I had to document the day our cat caught her first (and hopefully only) mouse in our house.

The text on the tag reads:
Ol' Purry Face caught herself a real live mouser today. It had been raiding the cupboard above our stove, feasting on granola bars and peanuts. She was very proud of herself. ~ April 4, 2008
